This course is designed to cover one of the most influential Muslim thinkers of our times, Fethullah Gulen, along with the civic transnational movement (influenced by his work and writings), which advocates for education; promotes intercultural and interfaith harmony; and delivers humanitarian aid and disaster relief.  A journey through the story of Gulen and the Hizmet Movement, this course will be an excellent introduction to Islam for both Muslim and non-Muslim audiences, since Gulen reinterprets Islam for the contemporary world.  The President of GMU, Doctor Gerald Grudzen, and a member of the Hizmet movement, Doctor Nihal Sahan, are co-instructors for this course, which will include several interactive Zoom sessions.
